I read your question about you chicken and rabbit on another forum and felt compelled to respond. I hope thats okay. I have many rabbits and two chickens and find them to be very social and cold hardy animals. It was -15 degrees last night, they had each other in groups of two and three in straw-filled, closed nestboxes and they were snug as a bug. My two chickens were in their nestbox, strawed up and they had a hanging 100 watt light. I make sure to change out their water a couple of times a day for hot. But being social animals, I encourage you to get another,same-sex rabbit or consider litter-box training her and bringing her into your house. You are not anthropomorphizing, she is lonely. No offense to your chicken. she just not a rabbit. Same story goes for the hen, of course. It’s harder to introduce grown chickens. Start out with docile breeds. Hope that was relevant.

thanks for the reply. we started off with two bunnies but one died earlier this summer. we think she had been sick since we got her actually, and watched the other real closely for a while, but she seems to be fine. the plan is to get three more chickens and another rabbit in the spring, the middle of winter is no time for that. and really the chicken and the rabbit do actually interact. we find them at night asleep together and such. She is a bit too stubborn to live in the house, and our dog is in love with her fur!
